RES-Q NUTRITION directly addresses a critical but under-recognised capability gap in European disaster response: the lack of lightweight, long-duration, infrastructure-independent nutritional systems that sustain operational performance during prolonged crises. Across Europe, first responders deployed in wildfires, floods, earthquakes and cross-border emergencies face disrupted supply chains, limited cooking infrastructure, high physical exertion and sustained cognitive stress. Current meal solutions (standard MREs or field catering systems) are logistically heavy, volume-intensive, dependent on resupply frequency and not optimised for extended operational endurance. This creates four systemic vulnerabilities: Excessive logistics burden in crisis zones, Limited strategic stockpiling capacity due to shelf-life constraints, Reduced responder cognitive performance under prolonged stress Poor interoperability of nutritional systems across EU agencies. RES-Q NUTRITION is a high-density operational energy system delivering up to 4000 kcal/day in a compact, ultra-light, hermetically sealed format with a shelf life exceeding 10 years. The system requires no fixed infrastructure, functions in extreme temperatures and high humidity, and is designed for rapid cross-border deployment. By drastically reducing weight-to-calorie ratio and storage volume compared to conventional rations, the solution enhances logistics resilience, lowers transport frequency, reduces warehousing footprint and supports EU-wide interoperability of emergency stock systems. Beyond caloric supply, the formulation is designed to sustain cognitive alertness and physical endurance during high-stress missions, strengthening responder safety and operational effectiveness. The technology has been demonstrated in a relevant environment. A fully formulated prototype has been laboratory validated and stability-tested under environmental stress conditions (heat, humidity, storage).

The objective of RES-Q NUTRITION is to establish a new operational standard for disaster-response nutrition in Europe by delivering a lightweight, long-duration, infrastructure-independent energy system for first responders. Across Europe, climate-driven disasters, cross-border emergencies and prolonged crisis deployments are increasing in frequency and duration. Yet nutritional logistics remain a hidden vulnerability in disaster response systems. Current meal solutions are weight-intensive, storage-dependent and require frequent resupply, placing additional strain on already disrupted supply chains. Our ambition is to close this structural gap by developing a high-density, shelf-stable operational energy system that enhances endurance, logistics resilience and cross-border interoperability for European first responders. RES-Q NUTRITION delivers up to 4000 kcal per day in an ultra-light, compact format with a shelf life exceeding 10 years, functioning without fixed cooking infrastructure in extreme environmental conditions. By drastically improving the calorie-to-weight ratio and reducing storage volume, the system strengthens strategic stockpiling capacity and accelerates rapid deployment across EU territories. The proposal aims to advance the solution from TRL6 to TRL7 through structured operational demonstrations with first responder units, while scaling pilot production and preparing certification pathways for EU-wide deployment. Leveraging our validated innovation and defined scaling strategy, we aim to become a leading emerging player in the operational MRE sector within the next two to three years. Our long-term ambition is to position RES-Q NUTRITION as a scalable, interoperable nutritional platform that enhances operational performance, responder safety and European disaster resilience preparedness.
RES-Q NUTRITION introduces innovation at three levels: formulation science, processing technology and operational usability. At formulation level, the system integrates bioactive, fermentation-enhanced ingredients and optimized macronutrient ratios to support sustained energy release and cognitive performance under stress. Unlike conventional rations focused primarily on caloric supply, our approach combines high caloric density (up to 4000 kcal/day) with functional nutritional components designed to enhance endurance, metabolic stability and alertness during prolonged operations. At processing level, we combine advanced stabilization methods including optimized drying techniques and microwave-assisted processing to significantly reduce production time and lower freeze-drying cost structures. This approach improves scalability and economic feasibility while maintaining long shelf life (>10 years) and nutritional integrity. The integration of innovative formulations with cost-efficient processing enables a new generation of high-performance, shelf-stable operational nutrition systems. RES-Q NUTRITION is designed for rapid usability. The product can be ready for consumption within 15 minutes from unpacking to intake, requiring no fixed infrastructure and minimal preparation. In high-risk or conflict scenarios where responders often lack safe time windows for meal preparation, this rapid deployment feature becomes mission-critical. The system reduces exposure time, enhances safety and ensures continuous operational readiness. Additionally, the ultra-light, compact format dramatically improves the calorie-to-weight ratio compared to traditional MREs, creating a structural innovation in disaster logistics and stockpiling strategies. By combining functional nutrition science, scalable cost-reducing production technologies and mission-driven usability design, RES-Q NUTRITION moves beyond incremental improvement and establishes a novelty.
RES-Q NUTRITION resolves a structural vulnerability in disaster response operations: the logistical and operational inefficiency of current field nutrition systems. In large-scale emergencies, first responders often operate in environments where infrastructure is damaged, supply chains are disrupted and resupply cycles are uncertain. Conventional meal systems are heavy, bulky and require frequent replenishment, increasing transport load, storage pressure and dependency on stable logistics corridors. Our solution reduces these constraints at system level. By delivering up to 4000 kcal per day in an ultra-light, compact format with long-term shelf stability (>10 years), RES-Q NUTRITION significantly improves the calorie-to-weight and calorie-to-volume ratio compared to traditional rations. This reduces transport frequency, lowers warehousing requirements and enhances strategic stockpiling capacity for national and cross-border deployments. Operationally, the system functions without fixed cooking infrastructure and can be ready for consumption within 15 minutes. In conflict or high-risk disaster environments, where safe time windows are limited, reducing preparation time directly increases responder safety and mission continuity. Additionally, the optimized nutritional profile supports sustained physical endurance and cognitive alertness during prolonged deployments, helping reduce fatigue-related performance decline in critical decision-making contexts. By strengthening logistics resilience, responder safety and mission endurance, RES-Q NUTRITION enhances operational readiness across European disaster response systems. The solution supports faster deployment, improved interoperability and more sustainable emergency stock management, directly contributing to a more resilient and prepared Europe.
