DIREKTION at the CERIS Disaster Resilience Days 2026: Driving innovation uptake across Europe

The CERIS Disaster Resilience Days 2026, organised by the European Commission, once again brought together researchers, innovators, first responders, civil protection authorities and policymakers to discuss the future of disaster resilience in Europe.
DIREKTION played an active role throughout the three-day event, contributing to several sessions dedicated to capability development, innovation uptake and emerging technologies.
The DIREKTION partners moderated discussions on Command & Control Systems, contributed to the strategic dialogue "From Capability Development to Operational Uptake", and officially launched the web-based version of the DIREKTION Assessment & Screening Framework (DASF), providing practitioners with an online tool to identify capability gaps and assess innovative solutions.
DIREKTION also supported the European Innovation Council (EIC) Matchmaking Session, bringing together innovative companies and first responders to encourage direct exchanges and ensure that innovation remains firmly anchored in operational needs.
Celebrating Europe's most promising innovations
One of the highlights of the event was the 2026 DIREKTION Awards Ceremony, recognising ten outstanding solutions that address capability gaps in disaster resilience.
Following an open call that attracted 47 applications from 13 countries, a panel of emergency responders evaluated the solutions based on their operational relevance, maturity and potential for adoption.
