📢 What happens to disaster preparedness solutions once a project ends?

Across Europe, hundreds of tools, platforms, methodologies and datasets are developed to strengthen disaster resilience. Yet many become difficult to find, maintain or reuse once project funding ends.

To help address this challenge, CWA 18390:2026 – Guidelines for Disaster Risk Preparedness Solutions has now been published by CEN.

The new guidance provides practical recommendations on how preparedness solutions can be:

âś… better documented

âś… easier to discover and compare

âś… more interoperable

âś… sustainably maintained beyond project lifetimes

Developed by experts from across the European Disaster Resilience community, the CWA represents a collective effort to reduce fragmentation and improve the long-term value of investments in preparedness and resilience.

We are proud that the DIREKTION project contributed to this important initiative alongside many European projects, practitioners and organisations.
